First race
2.22.09 Alabama training race. What a weird idea. So you pay $20 to pretend to race??? Whatever, it was a good hard ride. We did the A category, which is p1,2,3. 50 miles which is a little short, but the 20mph cross winds made the whole peloton toast by the end. Really, I think that was the slowest sprint I have ever seen. Generally speaking our plan had been to try and get into a break, if that did not work set up Matt for the sprint. After 4 laps of attacks, hills, and wind, I dropped back to check out Matt. He had nothing, which did not leave us with much. So we continued to instigate on the last lap, but I think there were too many big boys in the crowd, some real power was getting thrown down. My boy Stephen did his thing on the final climb which pretty much shattered the field, so there were only about 25 guys left for the finish. 4 guys got off the front about 1 k out and that was pretty much the race. So no big money, we went to huddle house to grease up before the ride home. No racing this weekend, just super long training rides. Next race will be Rome GA Cup, March 14-15.

Introduction and big ideas
Hi folks,
This blog is dedicated to my enduring passion. Bike racing. Specifically races that I am involved in. I am a Cat 3 road and Cat 1 XC racer in NW GA. I race for the Rome Velo team and do about 50 races a year. Durring the course of the year I plan to keep this blog updated with race reports, race news, and also some techinal reviews of equiptment I am putting through the paces. I also want to keep a running journal of the races, put into print impressions of each course. My hope is that others will see this and be able to use the data for future races on the same course.
Thanks to anyone who reads.
